A must is climbing the 764 m high holy mountain of Croagh Patrick and experiencing the view over Clew Bay with hundreds of Islands. There are surfing beaches in Louisburgh. The surrounding area is renowned for fly fishing on lakes and rivers, horse-riding as well as golf and bird watching. Around Clew Bay is a spectacular cycling area with a coastal cycle lane from Bertra (Summer 2020) to Croagh Patrick to Westport - joining up with the new GREENWAY to Newport, Mulranny and Achill Island.
